    Location of an ac capacitor

I am not an expert when it comes to repairing AC units, and have no intentions of trying to repair myself! With that said... I was wondering if it's possible to check to see if my AC capacitor is in fact damaged & needs to be replaced? I realize the location of the capacitor will be different on varying models, but how might I be able to check? Or is it even possible for someone with little to no experience? Thanks for any feedback or direction. Currently I have 2 units... one for upstairs (not currently working), and one for downstairs (currently working great)?

The wire that send power to your condenser unit,go behind a cover ,remove that cover and you will likely find the capicitor, a shiny usually round but sometimes oval can type looking thingie with usually 3 sets of posts with wires running to it, be careful kill the power first
