My unit has fuor wires and red, yellow .black ,brownand the motor has black,white ,brown ,brown/white motor will not start why

First of all, don't mess with what I describe below unless you know what a contactor is and you have an electrical meter to check it. Also, be careful with this it is 240VAC (that hurts when it bites) If you don't know how, call an electrician.

Just a guess, but check the line side of the contactor. If that is hot, then it may be because the coil is not pulling in (the coil is what pulls two contacts together to make an electrical connection). If the coil looks like it is pulling in, then sometimes there is something stuck in between the contacts.

I have found where bugs get in between the contacts and won't allow them to close fully.

I guess I should ask... is the fan going but the compressor won't turn on, or is it the whole condenser?
