1989 Mazda MPV Fuel Vapor Separator Fix? Bypass?
Working on an '89 Mazda MPV 6 cyl a/t. When driving, it has a strong fuel smell inside. I'm pretty sure it's probably the fuel vapor separator behind the right rear trim panel (I've found there was a recall on these because it can crack and release fuel vapors into the interior:eek:). Any chance I can just remove it and plug the lines going to it? At least for the time being? If the worst thing it will do is make the check engine light come on, that's no big deal. Anybody else dealt with this before? I can't seem to find a new one at any of the parts stores or RockAuto...
To me it seems kind of like the ash canister on old school cars... do I have the right idea? Thanks in advance!
