My problem brother is moving back, PLEASE HELP!
I have an 11 year old brother who may be moving back in with my mom because my dad or my dad's parents cannot handle him anymore. He has ADD,ADHD, and Antisocial personality disorder. Now they're at the end and cannot do it any longer, he has been kicked out of school, cannot do basic math (Because he never paid any attention in class), he gets mad if you say the word no to him. Now please don't say just say no and let him get mad, I'll tell you a story.. This happened when he was told to go to bed.

My dad told my brother to go to bed, my brother refused and broke the window, my dad then picked my brother up and took him to his bedroom put him in the bed and said time for bed, my brother laid there so my dad assumed he was going to go to bed and my dad went downstairs. 10 minutes later he heard something on the roof so he went outside to see and there was my brother ripping shingles of the roof. My dad called 911 (Not wanting my brother to get hurt!) before the emergency crew could arrive he pushed my dads chimney into the neighbors house which made a hole in there roof, he then proceeded to rip MORE shingles of the roof. My dad then called me and my grandpa and we rushed down. My brotehr picked up bricks (left over from the chimney) and through them at cars, breaking windows, and dinting the cars. When the emergency crew got there they went and first checked on the neighbors, then they came back to see my brother. One of the firefighters was my moms friend so she tried to get my brother down, she climbed the ladder and went and talk to him. He cussed and spit on her. She still tried to talk to him and offered to let him ride around in the fire truck if he came down, but he ran to the other side of the roof. Now everyone was getting a little worried so they decided to just grab him. So four cops went up to the roof my brother jumped down. There were cops waiting at the bottom they cuffed his hands and his feet, even cuffed it took 7 cops to hold him (He is 4 feet tall and weighs MAYBE 100 pounds).

Now this is just because he didn't want to go to bed. Now I'm scared that he is going to come into our house and hurt or break something. I have 7 animals that I do not want harmed in anyway!

He is on pills (I can't remember the names sorry) but every time he freaks out (Which happens about once a week) they change his pills. Now I'm actually SCARED to have him living here and I don't know what to do. My mom thinks it will be fine because I am the only one who can calm him down, maybe I can, but I can't handle that mentally (He once held a knife to my throat saying he was going to kill me and burn me and no one would ever find me, I ended up getting him to put the knife away and then I locked him in his bedroom till my mom came home.) But I just don't know what to do.
I'm sorry I'm rambling but I'm trying to explain EVERYTHING so that you can help me, help him.

I don't know what he needs, or what to do. I know anything you guys tell me I could get him to do. He loves my dog and we use it as a bribe ex. "If you clean your room you can take Duke for a walk" and then he'd clean his room SPOTLESS, and never once complain.

Any help AT ALL, even if you have no idea just a thought please tell me!

Can I ask what age you are?

It's a lot of responsibility your taking on your shoulders, and I'm sure your worried, but its your parents responsibility to care for the needs of your brother.

Its difficult for someone with a disorder like your brothers to fully understand the implications of his actions,or indeed sometimes the conquences of their actions.

Its important to create predictable and consistent bedtime routines, even in the face of a force ten battle,I have posted a link that will give you some information and tips to help your brothers sleep routine.

I am 15, I know it's not my problem, but my mom is also looking around for suggestions so any suggestions I may get on here I can pass along to her. Also my family is almost ready to give up on my brother, I don't want that to happen. I know it would be a lot on my shoulders to help him now, but when he is possibly in jail for murder there would be a lot more on my shoulders.

Ask your doctor or the team he is under for classes or instruction on damage control for his behaviour.

ABA ( applied behaviour analysis) is a form of therapy,Google centres in your area,or speak to a professional in your brothers disorder,if you can't find one,ask his doctor for a referral to a therapist or someone your parents can talk to.

Also, you could ask about CBT (cogitive behaviour therapy),cogitive is the way you think, this therapy can help your brother become more aware of his actions and gain more control over his thinking.

The ideal person to speak to about therapy's, family councilling and support is your doctor.

Please help me understand a couple of things. First, he doesn't attend school at all and is just running around free? At age 11?

    With his bare hands?

Somehow I can't quite picture this. With his bare hands?

Didn't this become a matter for the police who should have taken him into juvenile custody?

He jumped off the roof of a house? He had no injuries?

He wasn't taken away? Institutionalized for at least a month?

Doctors do not change pill prescriptions for this kind of behavior (or any other kind I'm aware of) "every week." It takes at least 3-6 weeks for any to even begin to take effect.

And he's still loose out in the world?

I just can't make sense of much of this. I don't understand why he isn't in a maximum security residential center for juveniles -- for his own safety, if not for everyone else's.

I have a hard time believing a 100 lb, 4 foot, 11 year old, could push a chimney off a roof- with such force it landed on the neighbours roof, and made a hole.

The diagnosis of ADHD, ADD, and antisocial personality disorder- it is odd that the Doctor treating him would change his pills so frequently.

Wondergirl has asked very good questions, and I hope you can answer them so we can all get a better grip on this.
