I have a Honda Accord LX 4dr sedan ka5mt.
The a/c does not work. Tested the a/c-radio panel and it works fine- compressor works, fan works. Something is not allowing for it to turn on. Any ideas?

What year is your Honda?
How did you test the compressor?
If the system has sufficient charge, then everything should work. If the system charge is too low, it won't.
Sorry, forgot that part 2004.
We powered the pressure switch and it clicked on the compressor. The a/c was blowing cold air at that time.
But when it is left to its own devices, nothing.
I can hear the a/c try to come on but it stops after two seconds. I am at a loss.
The charge is just a little low. I will add more tonight just in case it is something as silly as that but...

Did as suggested above and nothing. I am going to try and replace the blower motor resistor and see if that helps.

That doesn't power the compressor.
You said you powered the pressure switch and it worked. That leads me to think it's low on charge. Or that switch is bad.
What are the high and low side pressures?

That set of numbers can only come from a working compressor, but the charge may still be a little low.Quote:

Yes the high/low is that.
You said earlier that it could be the switch that is bad. I am really lost now.
The a/c works when we powered the pressure switch. I was just informed that he had to jump the blower motor as well.
The a/c was blowing cold air at that time. But when it is left to its own devices, nothing.
As I see it by our conversation it is not the compressor, pressure switch, condenser, blower motor, resistor.
Oh well... frustrating.
Something is not allowing the a/c to turn on and remain on if it is none of the above I am really at a loss. :(
Back to the basics:
Without by-passing or jumping any switches, the compressor does not cycle? Then I would agree with the cycling switch.
If those system pressures you posted are after you by-passed the switch, replace that switch.
Let us know how that works for you.
The pressure is when we jumped the compressor and the blower works when jumped.
Being that we are jumping the a/c we cannot change the air flow direction.
As I understand that leaves me with two options:
a. the resistor which you stopped me from getting as you say that could not be the problem.?
b. the pressure switch which so far seems to be what I need.

At that time we will see if the resistor needs replacing as well. Wish me luck. :)

The a/c works now, we did have to replace the resistor and the pressure switch.
Needless to say, I am happy as a peacock. :)
