    Basement Laundry Vent
    Hello All,

I'm hoping to make some changes to the layout of my basement so that I can add a half bath and have more usable space. As part of my plan I'd like to move the washer and utility sink to another wall and tie it into a 2" drain/vent from the kitchen sink on the floor above. The question that I have is will I need a seperate vent for the laundry/sink group in the basement or can I use the kitchen vent some 27 feet away? Also if a seperate vent is required can I simply run a 2" PVC line up to the top of the basement wall and out horizontally to the exterior of the house? I've attached a simple drawing of the layout of the plumbing - the blue highlighted portion indicates proposed additions.

    Thanks,

    Jon

You are not stating what Code you fall under.

In the interim, here are my 2 cents: I work under UPC. This is how we would have to rough it in in our area of operation. See the drawing...

    Hope that helps... Milo

I work under The Standard Plumbing Code and it conforms with Milos drawing. Good luck, Tom
