Hi my name is maria and I am 21 yrs old I never had problems with bacterial infections or yeast infections but lately every month I get one and my gynecologist says there is nothing I can really do besides drink more water and stuff like that can u help me ?

Hey maria, I am not a doctor or a nurse or anything, but are you having un protected sex with your boyfriend? Sometimes you can transfer them back and forth. Also I hear tight jeans and synthetic blends of underwear can cause bacterial infections as well as yeast infections.

I've also heard to never use petroleum-based lubricants for vaginal lubrication during sexual intercourse. Always use water-based lubricants when vaginal dryness is an issue.

Also eating yogurt helps prevent yeast infections. Also staying away from perfumed bubble baths and scented soaps in that area will prevent them from occurring as well.

You do need to follow your doctors advice and be sure you are drinking plenty water. I had the same problem once from not drinking water several days. If you take medcations, there are some that can cause yeast infections. Start trying to dring at least 2 16oz bottles a day and increase to 4 and leave the sodas alone.
