I have been given a Hampton Bay 52" ceiling fan without remote or a manual. I have 4 small gauge wires exiting the motor housing, they are red, gray, yellow, pink. I get 56.5 ohms between the red and gray wires and 60 ohms between the yellow and pink. Can anyone give me an idea as to the proper wiring of this fan?

I am sorry but I have failed to notice a black wire coming from above the light fixture attachment plate. This wire is common to the red, yellow, grey, and pink wires exiting from the center of the motor housing. Black to red=6 m ohm, black to pink= m ohm, black to yellow= m ohm and black to grey= m ohm. As before the grey to red and the yellow to pink return a reading of about 58 ohms.

Sorry for the huge omission... does this make how to wire this fan something that can be answered? Thanks again for your consideration

Someone gave you scrap metal. To get this working you need either switches and capacitors, or the remote receiver that originally would have went to it. In either case the parts will cost you almost as much as a new fan. If you are really attached to this fan, call Hampton Bay and order the parts. If not, see how much the scrap dealer will give you for it.
