I have liked this guy for three years now and its been on and off so that's why I am not really sure I don't want it to be a huge waste of my time

    Waiting for what?

I'm guessing you're under 20, right? If that's the case, don't be exclusive with anyone. Be friends with the fat boys, the thin ones, the athletic ones, the nerds, the rich ones, the poor ones, the ones in between, and even with the redheads.

You want to play the field and find about all sorts of guys and their personalities and characters and weirdnesses. You're not ready to settle down yet. So don't.

You have already spent 3 years of off and on, so why keep waiting, for it to be on again?

    Good point!
If the guy has not wanted to be yours in three years after being on and off, what is it you are expecting to change?
