Kohler command 16 hp flooding
I have a simplicity regent hydro with a kohler command 16 hp (CV16S). When I start the mower to use it, it starts fine, usually with a puff of blue smoke, which has been the norm. it runs and mows fine, idles fine and runs at full throttle fine, but occasionally I will shut it off to do some trimming or eat supper or whatever, and when I come out and start it again (and hour or so) it struggles to start as if it is flooded. This happened recently and after trying to start it, I smelled gas so I pulled the air filter off and the air box attached to the carb was completley full of gas, drained it out and could watch it fill back up again! Long story short, I changed oil and filter, which by the way was not overfull due to gas mixed with it. Also, this is a BRAND NEW walbro carb I just installed this spring and I dropped the float bowl and checked for debris and found a tiny amound of sediment but nothing of any size. This time was the worst ever, but I don't want this again and I am stumped! I had a few incidents similar to this last mowing season with the old carb. I replaced it because the throttle shaft and bushing was completley worn out and sloppy. Also, this engine has a new head gasket and fuel filter. I know I can put a shut off valve on the fuel line, but I would like to actually find the root of the problem. I hope I provided enough info. I would greatly appreciate any help or opinions! I have read numerous threads from people with the same issues, but their carbs are usually dirty or needing rebuilt, or they have issues at high throttle. I'm out of ideas! Help!
