Just because you spend time together does not mean he loves you or even has romantic feelings towards you,possibly he sees you as a friend,and he may get freaked out if you express your feelings for him.

Too many times in relationships, people will take something as meaning something else when it might not really mean much of anything at all, other than acting in a way to nuture a friendship.

If people really love each other in a mature way, then they will be able to discuss that with each other rather than having to guess at what each other might be thinking.
