I have a DirectTV satellite box, Samsung HDTV and Panasonic DMR EZ28 EZ recorder. I can't seem to get both signals simultaneously.

The cable from the dish should go to dvr first then to your tuner. Then whatever video your using goes from tuner to TV. If DVR has sepperate video output then that will need to be hooked up to a different "video in" on yor TV.
