How Do I Remove Rubber Stains on Furniture?
I too have the same problem. My daughter has cream color furniture (brand new) I put an alram clock on it with black rubber on the bottom. Two weeks later I was dusting and found the rubber had left permanent black marks in the furniture. I am heartbroken since this furniture was expensive and new. Nothing works, goo-gone, lemon oil, an eraser. I called a refinisher said they didn't know how to get the marks out without stripping and repaining the furniture but that the cream color may not match exactly. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would be so grateful for a solution. [Personal email address removed to protect privacy.]

    Hi, jdemarco720!

This is the old and archived thread of someone else. Also, this place doesn't work the same way that a chat room does. New questions need to be asked by starting a new thread.

I'll be happy to help you with the issue that you're having. However, I'll need to move your question to a new thread.

How would you like for it to be titled, please?

I also needed to remove your personal email address. I would hate to see you get spammed because it was exposed here. Also, once a thread has been started, all information needs to stay on the thread so that others with similar questions can benefit by the information that's exchanged.

    Thanks!

    Hi again, jdemarco720!

Just a few questions for you:

    1. Do you know what kind of finish is presently on the furniture, please?

    2. Is there a definite grain pattern of the wood on the furniture?

    3. If you use a fingernail, can even a little, tiny bit of the black be removed?

    Thanks!

I don't know the exact finish. It is a dull cream paint. No shine to it.
There is no grain pattern to the wood, it is flat.
No, a fingernail cannot remove the rubber mark.
It is as if the rubber seeped into the paint.
You can scrub it an it won't come out.
The furniture is Legacy Classic Kids in cream color.
I was going to try paint thinner next, but I am afraid to make it worse.

It's most likely some kind of lacquer or oil based paint.

If you use paint thinner with a clean rag, it might take a very little bit of the paint off, mainly because of a slight softening of the paint. However, the area rubbed will also tend to be lighter than other areas.

If you try the paint thinner, you should try it first, on a very small area that's not generally visible to see what happens.

If there is no grain pattern at all that's visible, are you sure that the surface underneath is real wood?

Are you able to post an image of the affected area here, please?
