    Can a felon ever own ashotgun
    Need to know if a felon can ever own a firearm after a long period being good is there a period to wait and then be able to have a firearm only not a hand gun but a rifle only I thought there was a law for such a thing maybe not

    The short answer is no.

    A felon can own a black powder firearm though.

    There is no such law that I am aware of regarding this. The only way a felon can own a shotgun is for the felony to be expunged or a pardon given. If a felon is caught with a gun of any kind (except black powder) in their residence they may and can go to prison for it whether they own it or not.
