    My chair rail is 36" what is maximum height of furniture against it
    My chair rail is 36" high. My sideboard is 42". Is my sideboard too high? What is the rule for placement of furniture against the rail?

    A chair rail was installed, originally, to protect wall from getting banked by chair back. Now a days is ornamental. Any furniture u use will be fine.
