Price on intake manifold gasket parts/labor for 2001 mercury cougar ls 3.0 6 cyl.

UIM and LIM parts are cheap ($12). Are they removing both upper and lower or what? Why are they removing them? To access plugs or PCV valve? Many times they don't have to be removed for run of the mill procedures. Depending on the configuration, and what's being done, it could run $300.

The shop just said they needed to replace the intake manifold gasket and quoted $457.00. It sounded high so that's why I decided to check prices before I gave the OK to fix. Thanks for your reply.
