I have a boyfriend for 1 1/2 yrs now and I haven't told my mom yet because she doesn't want me to have a boyfriend right now. What's the best way to tell her without getting her mad and accept him? They have met many times and I told her that he is my friend. He's part of my life and I feel that my mom should know.(Im 18) Advice please.

Well your 18 years old and pretty much an adult. Your mom will probably be mad and who knows if she will accept it or not.

Even if she does not accept it, will it change anything?

There is no easy way to do it, except to sit down and have a heart to heart.

It is too bad if your mom does not want you to have a boyfriend because obviously you have one anyway.

Did you ask your mom why she doesn't want you to have a boyfriend now?

Does she know you have had one for the past year and a 1/2?

Well she said the reason was because she wanted me to focus on my school work but its difficult growing up in teen years without a boyfriend. Its part of adolescence to explore the opposite sex and that's what I wanted to do.
And she doesn't know we are together but I think she got some hints and doesn't want to say anything.

You tell her, she may get mad but what can she say. You are 18 years old.
Why is your mom against your having a boyfriend and how is it you've had one for a year and a half and she does not know?

Chances are your mother already knows, she is just in denial, if you are 18 years old why don't you just act like an adult and tell her you are dating this guy? As long as you put your school first I show her that you mean business when it comes to your schooling, I'm sure she will understand! If not, then I would say she has some issues of her own that she needs to work out.

You better tell her soon, as she probably has it figured out any way. Use birth control, and be responsible about sex.
