    How far from a septic tank can I locate sona tubes for a deck and an addition in mass
    I want to put an addition and deck on my house and want to know if there is any laws as to how close the sona tubes can be to the septic tank?

    Hi Rich and welcome

    This is controlled by local building dept. Check with them for specs.

    In my area must be 2 feet and clear above. The tank must be 5 feet from a building structure. This is short version of ordinance.

    Agree and in my area the tube would be considered a structure and must be 5' away from the tank.

    If u have a building inspector that can't read a ruler, like ours, u can get away with being closer. This is not advisable as it makes servicing it harder.

    Thanks for the answers. That helped out a lot. I couldn't get anybody to answer the question until I submitted a full set of plans. But now I can... thanks again!

    That tells you how building dept. works... Now imagine approaching them with really complicated question ! :D

    It's a shame but many inspectors suffer from a GOD complex. This is to make up for their inadequacies.
