I upgraded from windows ME to XP now my computer's slow how can I get rid of windows ME
Hi
Did you install XP to another partition or upgraded to XP over ME?
I installed on another partition.
I installed on another partition.
If you are getting a boot menu when you start computer:
All you should have to do is edit your boot.ini file
Go to c:\ drive in windows explorer and look for boot.ini file in root folder of c: and right click and choose Edit
file will look like this
What you would need to do is remove the line that is related to Windows ME and then choose File and then SaveQuote:
boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows ME" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(7)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
This will remove any boot option menu that shows up when starting PC
Now you can remove any folders that you have on C:\ that is related to Windows ME only - if not sure, keep
