Nissan truck died and will not restart
I was going down the road and it felt like the truck popped out of gear (this is a automatic)so I let my foot off the gas and put in nuetral then back in drive and could not feel it kick back in. The truck slowed to a gradual stop and then just stopped running. The motor cranks but with no result. Where and what do I need to check first or is there a lot of things it could be?

My 94 Nissan Sentra did the same thing. I actually sold it after that and never officially found out the cause. I did see in Click and Clacks column years later a person described the same symptoms. My car was running fine, then just stopped. Turned off. I went back later after it had a chance to cool off and wham it started up fine and drove home. Crazy. I think the click and clack guys said it had something to do with one of the relays getting hot. All I remember that once it cooled down it ran fine. I never trusted it go far.

    1. Check all under-hood and under-dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.
    2. Check for any codes being thrown.
    3. Check igniter and coil, which Autozone will do for free.
    4. Check main relay, if any.
    5. Turn ignition switch to ON and see if the Check Engine Light comes on and then goes off after 2 seconds. During this 2 second period, do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank run?
    6. Ensure computer is OK.

You didn't give us your truck's year, engine, and mileage.

The truck is a 93 hardbody? With 154000. 4 cyl.
When you turn the key you can hear the fuel pump kick on. Pulled sparkplug to see if it is getting fire and it is, but still won't start.
Can't take it to autozone, it was towed home and in the garage. Can this help you any?? I'm at a lose.:

Did you check fuses and check for any codes being thrown? I would check the whole ignition system--plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, igniter, and coil. All of those items are likely candidates for replacing, with 154,000 miles on the truck. Evaluate the condition of the distributor. Do you sense the bearing has gone, which could damage internal sensors? Next, I would replace the fuel filter and verify fuel pressure and flow. Finally, you need to determine whether the computer is OK.
