    We just got a quote for a new central A/C unit for our 2-story, 2200 sq. ft. house and I don't know what the term "3-ton" refers to in the quote for a new Trane A/C system. Can anyone tell me what it refers to? Thank you.

    3 ton = 36,000 BTU's
