It's almost summer again... can't go through another one hot!
I am desperate at this moment and I need some help. I've had my unit seen by a couple of people.. both say the unit is good and so is the compressor. The problem is the top of my unit. I'm not sure how it happened or it could be the Texas heat but the top part of my unit that holds the blades/motor is cracked! I've had it welded but this isn't working. When you turn the breaker on from outside, the blades spin but it looks like the top is about to spin off into orbit... literally. It shakes so bad. What is the most inexpensive thing to do to get this issue resolved without buying a whole unit because of a top? Please help this damsel in distress! Thanks in advance.

For one thing the biggest problem you have is vibration. So if any kind of welding is to be done then it will need support. Like a strap. Also someone could tack weld the crack then put a supporting strap over it and rivet it in place. It shouldn't be overly expensive to do something like that. Or if available you could just get a "new" lid from the maufacturer and replace the one you have.

You should be able to get a new top for your unit for around $200
