Hi all, I have a couple questions I hoping someone can help me with. I'm finishing a bathroom in my basement and had it rough during construction (planned ahead) so its not so much work, but I am wondering about venting the drains- it has only one vent hooked now at the drain where the sink will go, is that enough to cover for the toilet and shower as well? And also for the toilet drain I know I have to cut the pipe off and install closet flange over it, but I not sure after it is bolted to the concrete floor does it also get glued into the drain pipe, I wouldn't think so but not sure? I appreciate any advice I can get on these questions. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

If your rough went down as a typical rough in one vent is all you'll need.
Most bathroom groups are roughed in like this.
Toilet connects to sewer main. The toilet wet vents through the lavatory vent. Lavatory connects to toilet drain and runs a vent out the roof or revents back into a dry vent in the attic off the top the stubout tee. The shower connects to the lavatory drain and is wet vented by it. This is a normal rough in and is acceptable both by local and state codes but also The Standard Plumbing Code Book.
As for the closet flange, the stub-up gets cut off at floor level and the flange gets glued to it. If you need more insurance you can TapCon it to the floor. Good luck, Tom
