In the States the usual procedure is to buy up the back taxes at the County Clerk's office.

    Hi, Daz626zc!

It's true about the taxes. In some places, the information is available online whether the property taxes have been paid or not.

    Thanks!

    Hello D:

You call them abandoned. I call them empty. In either case, there IS an owner. So, of course, nobody is going to "claim" them. If you want to buy them, you need to find out WHO the owner is. You can do that by checking the tax rolls at the assessor's office, or the county clerk.

I totally agree, everything is owned by someone. If the taxes are paid then you just make an offer to the owner. If the taxes are not paid then this may come up at their future deliquent tax auction so check for that.
