I tried.. it didn't work at all!

You have to understand how glutathione works. It's an antioxidant and whitening the skin is only a side-effect. Which meant it may or may not work. In theory it does. Antioxidants are supposed to get rid of the free radicals (damage caused by the sun, smoking, etc) and restores healthy skin.
