How long does it take from the court date to garnishments? I have a lawyer who I thought was filing bankruptcy for me, until yesterday and missed a summons to appear in court on a medical bill.

A garnishment can be taken as soon as the Judgment against you is filed.

I don't understand what happened - you didn't appear because you thought an Attorney (handling your bankruptcy) was taking care of this?
