Craftsman lawn mower will not start I turn the key moter turns but when it gets to compression stroke it stops the mower has brand new battery and also does the same thing when jumping it off

What about the spark plugs, did you check those?

Yes nothing wrong

Take spark plug out. See if engine turns over to rule out other issues.

Check flywheel key. Adjust valves.
