Pre-installed basement bathroom- odour issues
Hi, I have read previous questions on this site, and seem to have a few niggling questions remaining.
In my finished basement I have a toilet, shower and sink, plus a laundry tub draining into an ejector pit which pumps into my septic system.
The ejector pit has a lid which is cracked, and has been 'repaired' previously, badly I might add. It has two pipes coming from the lid. One I assume is the waste pipe, and other is the vent pipe? In my roof, the vent pipe (assumed) joins the only vent pipe to breach the roof.
From other postings I am guessing that this venting method is wrong?
I am getting, on occasion, septic/methane odors in the garage and basement. A plumber has said that the lid is irreplaceable as it is outdated and no longer sold.
How difficult is it to change out or replace the ejector system?
Is a new vent essential? Access to piping is very difficult.
Thanks for any assistance you can offer. If you need more info just ask.
