    Where things are going
I was chatting to a friend today and the comment was made that "most people after 3
years know where the relationship is going". Was just wondering how true that really is? And does it really matter?

Hi Saker! How are you? There is no clearly defined line in the validity of relationships at any given point in time. However, given simple facts such as "the relationship has been horrible for the last 3 years" OR "it's been heavenly" may be an indication where it is going to go in the future! Remember there are many people who meet in Junior High School that get married and remain so for many years while others seem to be in total bliss and then tumble down that rocky path of disintegration! Age can have a great impact in determining the validity of a relationship because one or both of the people are still moving through the maturation process and need more time to evaluate their preferences. I think you are still struggling with "what should I do" in your relationship! So stand back and give the picture more time to develop! As always, Good Luck to you!

I'm OK thanks! It wasn't actually a comment from either me or him, it was from his younger brother (who has never even had a girlfriend) to him, and it set him thinking. What you've said is pretty well my feeling too, and I think you've hit the nail on the head about what he's feeling with the "what should I do" now that it's been brought to his attention. I think he's trying to live up to expectations a bit, and I'm trying to stop him from doing that as we aren't most people, we are us.
