Hi, wildbarn!
Are you able to post any images of it here?
Some questions for you:
1. When was the last time that it was tuned?
2. When it was last tuned, was it tuned to the American Standard of Pitch of A=440?
3. Do all of the notes and pedals play?
4. Are any of the keytops chipped or missing?
5. What is the color and condition of the finish?
6. Are the legs fancy in any way, like rounded and/or fluted? Or, are they just retangular in shape?
7. Does it have a bench?
8. Where is it currently located in the home?
When you write "baby grand", that could be a generalization of any size underneath that of a concert grand piano. There were many size designations by name. So, how long is it from the front end of the keys to the end of the case, please?
I'd have to look up my books on the ages of the pianos according to the serial numbers. I will try to find them, though. If I know what the finish is like and the style of the legs are though, I should be able to give you an approximate dating of it.
I've been a piano tuner/technician since 1974. One of the things that I do is make appraisals on pianos.
Thanks!
