How long after an episode of priapus should I wait to attempt intercourse?
I recently had a problem with something called "the four hour erection". It was more like five and a half hours and was not as fun as it sounds. It was very painful and stressful. But being the sexually active couple that my wife and I are, we want to know how long we should wait to have sex. Should we ease back into it with oral, or can we just resume normal activity?

I'm not an expert, nor do I pretend to be, but if you suffered from something that painful, I would ease slowly back into things.

Does your doctor know about this?

I would definitely consult with your doctor.

Too many variables (your age, your health, the reason you suffered from priapus, etc) for us to give you an accurate timetable.

Priapism is a serious condition. Any erection that lasts more than four hours should be treated as a medical emergency and you should go to a doctor or hospital emergency department. Worst case scenario can be permanent damage to the penis.

I do hope you got this checked out, and if not I suggest you go have a chat with your doctor. It is important to know the underlying cause, which is generally due to a medical disease or side effects from drugs, either prescribed or recreational.

If you have already had some medical advice then perhaps you can give us a little more information based on how that went, or have another chat with your doctor.

I hope you take this advice and go to your doctor.

    Don't chance it.

You know, they sometimes release the pressure with a needle. Not me friend.
