    Problem with Maytag compressor noise
I have (3), four year old 3 Ton Maytag compressors that when they start, they all make a loud surging vibration sound for a few secounds once the compressor kicks in. They only started doing this a few weeks ago - any sugestions?

Are you saying that all 3 of the units started making this noise at the same time? If that is the case check the 220/240 power voltage at each unit and see what it registers.

Three of the four units started making the same noise within a few days after I had service on one of the systems that was low on freon. The serviceman had also checked the other (3) units to make sure that they were OK - I checked the AC voltage on the (3) problem units and had 220 + volts. Is it possible that checking the pressures caused this to happen - I also noticed that all of the units have a Kick Start capacitor connected to the start capacitor

    Questions?

Did the service person add refrigerant to the systems? If so they could be overcharged.

Did the service person add the kick starts?
