Depends on what type of file. Many file types do have password protect options. What type of file would you like to password protect?

Sorry I'm new to computers ( 2yrs ). I wrote a message in Word and saved it in Documents. I want to protect it with a password. I'm not sure what you mean by what type of file?

You answered the question correctly. By type of file I meant what program made the file.

For Word, your protection options are under Tools > Options > Security. There you have options to create a password to open or modify a file.

I think you can protect any ms office file with the password by clicking the protect file.. and I don`t understand what type of file you want to protect.. if you want to protect any folder.. there are some folderlocker softwares you can use them
