    DIY Heat pump installation
I would like to use a heat pump as a source for hot water for a radiant floor system. I know that there are split systems when using an air handler, so instead I want to purchase a flat plate heat exchanger, connect it to a heat pump, and have an 80 gallon storage tank for the hot water storage. I am looking for a schematic showing me the parts I would need to accomplish this. I know that there are systems being sold that do this, but financially they are out of reach for me. I realize that I would need a heat exchanger, water pump for circulating the water through the tank and exchanger, but beyond that I am at a loss.

Along with all the parts and pieces you better hire an engineer to do all the calculations or the system will never work. While it sounds simple it is a very complex setup.

Is this out of reach? GE 50 Gal. Heat Pump Electric Hot Water Heater (GEH50DNSRSA)

Kiss.. that's EXACTLY what he should use. But he will need help with the plumbing since in his own words he is at a loss. Fill/pressure regulator, expansion tank, possibly a manifold... lots of things to consider.
