I need to buy a new top loading washing machine.
Lots of reviews don't look so good. Some hate theirs and some love them.
What is the best brand or tupe to get?
I want something designed to wash clothes not designed to be green.

I almost went nuts after reading too many reviews of washers online! I chose a top loading high efficiency washer and I love it. I was NOT keen on this new fangled type washer but I made some adjustments to how I do laundry, like sorting by weight and smaller loads, and I know I'm using less water, my clothes get clean. I use less soap even though the HE is more expensive, I buy it less often. The high speed spin gets clothes really dry so I use less dryer time. Yes the HE washers are longer wash cycles but like I said, the dry time is less. Be careful to load clothes into washer evenly because if they get out of balance, watch out, it's loud. I bought a GE Profile high efficiency in December and I am satisfied with it. Go for it, good luck.

And also the HE washer is much much quieter (if the machine is located somewhere you can hear it cycle) big difference for me compared to my 1998 machine
