Possible reasons for missing a period besides the obvious
I'm an active, healthy 24 year old. My period is 8 days late today. I've taken several home pregnancy tests which have all come back as negative. However one of which was a very, very, very faint positive.. . a barely there line. So I consulted my GP and have had blood taken to verify, but have to wait until Monday for the results. I've since taken another test which came back negative.

I don't have any pregnancy related symptoms. I have not lost weight recently, I am not overweight and I am not under any stress right now.

Is it possible to just miss a period? I've never had it happen before. I'm usually very regular on a 32 day cycle and never go more than one day over. I'm intrigued to know of any reasons besides pregnancy that could have caused this?

Anyone experienced this or something similar? Will my next period be twice has heavy?

    Thank you

A change in your diet can do it. If you switch to a very low fat, or a very low carb diet without easing in, it can change your ovulation pattern.

Have you taken any medications or supplements recently?

Also, a sudden upsurge in exercise can affect periods.

Never mind. It seems, despite multiple negative pregnancy tests I am in fact pregnant. Just got the blood test results from the doctors. Thanks for your answer though :o)
