Yes, it's one.
"Mono" is Latin for one. e.g. monochrome = one + color ; monocle = one lens ; monocotyledon = one + cotyledon
Thank You So Much, I really appreciate your help. You're Wonderful.
Thanks Again, Have A Great Day.
Traci
di = two
tri = three
quad = four
quint = five
hex = six
sept = seven
oct = eight
Thank You Both xo
In the context of chemistry, the prefixes used are as follows:
mono: one (eg. Monochloro methane,, one chlorine in methane)
di: two (eg. Dichloro methane,, two chlorine in methane)
tri: three (eg. Monochloro trifluoro methane,, one chlorine, three fluorine in one methane)
tetra: four (eg. Tetrachloro methane,, four chloro in one methane)
penta: five (eg. Copper sulfate pentahydrate,, copper sulfate with 5 moles of water of crystallisation)
hexa: six (eg. Potassium hexacyano ferrate (III))
hepta: seven (eg. Magnesium sulfate hepta hydrate,)
etc.
Lol, what can I do? I have to learn the naming of some compounds, and these happen to be in my syllabus :oQuote:
Wondergirl agrees : You are soooooo smart. Cute too!
Of course, there are much worse... like the specific conditions used for a reaction to take place so that it is economically good (concerning manufacture of ammonia, sulfuric acid, etc). I prefer not bring them here.
Thanks WG :)
