How to get my name off a deed
I've gotten divorced. The marital home was financed in my ex's name only. I am on the deed. I could not financially keep the home so it was awarded to him. There is now an IRS lien on the property and it shows up at the Registry of Deeds under my name also. How do I get my name of this deed? I live in NH.

The court at the divorce should have ordered a new deed be done and recorded. So a new deed is made, transferring the property just to him, and the court may have to order it recorded if he will not.

Is the IRS lien against you?

A Divorce Decree is not binding on creditors. So unless action was specifically taken to transfer the deed, you will remain on it until that is done.

To clarify AK's question who owes the taxes, you or your ex? With the lien on the property, it can't be transferred now until the lien is satisfied.
