For last few days, I had been thinking of getting a study Bible. There are a lot in the market. Which study Bible is rated the best which would help me to understand Bible verses in more detail? Did anyone read or have "Quest Study Bible"? Other than being NIV, how good is it in explanation and asnwering questions?
There are several versions/translations - what is your specific interest? What religion or Christianity in general?
The New Revised Standard Version
Fully Revised and updated The Harper Collins Study Bible
Including Apocryphal, Deuterocanonical books
Student edition.
The new world translation of the holy scripture.
There's basically something for everybody, that's why there are so many. I'd suggest you go to your local Christian bookstore. Don't ask any questions, just head into the Bible aisle(s) and spend at least 2 hours perusing the various options to see which one is right for you. I worked in a Christian bookstore for several years and found that this was the best way to sort out which study Bible suits an individual's needs. In most cases, if you let the employees know what you're doing, they'll leave you alone unless you ask a specific question. (If they don't do this, find a different store if you can.)
That's the best I can tell you from experience; nobody can tell you which one is going to suit your needs most effectively.
There are many good study Bibles and some are denominational, What is important is not the notes but the fact that you study the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to answer the questions. You will find that the study Bible has been adapted to other versions although the NIV appears to have the most study Bibles, but the Life Application text has been adapted to a number of versionsQuote:

Translated accurately, say the same thing, but all the,(thou, thus and old English words take longer to understand. That is one of the reasons there are so many different religions in the world today. Many can not understand the old English and are at the mercy of Pastors, Minister’s and religious leaders to translate it and that is why there are so many different opinions of what the Bible says. If you get a study Bible you personally can understand, and you pray for God’ s Holy spirit to help you, then you will study and learn what God wants you to know and not what others think the Bible says. Take your time, read verses and try explaining in your own words. If you Can do that, then that is the study Bible for you.
Keep an open mind, look at all the different translations, they all have the same message, some are much easier to understand, and we are not at the mercy of someone else’s understanding. Keeping asking God for His help, He will guide you.
