I bought a car and traded in my suv. I surrenderd title to the dealership but did not sign the title. Will not signing the title void the sales contract ?

No. The contract was that you sell the SUV to the dealership. The title would merely be performance of that agreement. The dealership can require you to sign it, or take whatever other step is most convenient in getting the title transferred.
