Previa knock sensor drop engine 97 Previa AWD LE/SC
Hi: I have a 97 Toyota Previa -AWD- LE/SC with 193,000 miles. LOVE the Car.
** Previa began to run rough in the morning and cold starts. (also, gas mileage dropped from 20 to 14mpg (-thought it might be worsened by new tires).
** Over next week’s it became progressively worse.
** Had a complete tune up, Fuel filter replaced, transmission flush (while it was in shop).
** Ran well for 10 days…than Catalytic Converter Clanged allot and car started to sputter Badly at acceleration.
** Brought it back to the shop and he replaced Catalytic converter and replaced faulty spark plug
** Car ran better, but still no acceleration, and not power – shop could not fix it
** Had it towed to dealer. They say it’s the nock sensor and necessitates lowering engine and tranny to repair… near $1800
?? Do You Need to Drop the engine to replace the Knock sensor? Fair Market Cost for the replacement and labor costs? Thoughts? Call: (seven 0 three -527-5660) Thanks
