Can't remember the title of this
I read a book a few years ago that has been an inspiration to me recently for my own writing. I'm kicking myself because I can't recall the author or title of it, but maybe someone else will. Feel free to kick me too for being shortsighted.

The plot is basically a man's daughter is killed and he goes out to find the killer and get revenge. I want to say the protagonist is a lawyer, and the murderer is also a serial rapist/murderer.

Thanks for your help in advance. :)

There's a collection of short stories -- from an Amazon review: "Slasher" by F. Paul Wilson is one of those tales with a twist ending in the great EC tradition. A man's daughter is murdered and he is out for revenge. An FBI agent informs him that the killer is an important witness in a federal trial and cannot be touched until SHE testifies. But this man's revenge cannot wait...
