    Well pump running muddy
My Franklin well pump was replaced last week. The first few hours it was dirty and sandy, not unexpected, then it started being muddy. I have a sand filter on the system at the outside, not underground, for sand issues. Could it be that the new pump was placed too deep and is now pulling mud? Should the pump be raised? The well is approx 30 years old and I do not have the history but have lived here for a year with sand issues which is why I had the sand filter installed to keep my sprinkler system from getting clogged. Then the motor stopped on the pump and had to be replaced. Advise. THANKS

Pump may be to deep. Have it raised about 18 inches.

I agree with Chuck but it could also be that the new pump is stronger than the old one. Could also be that some of the well cavity caved in. Before I pulled the pump, I'd disconnect the well pipe and let the pump run a couple of days to see it cleared up.
