I cannot turn the light off with the remote. When the wall switch is on, the remote works properly to control the speed but the light is always on. I have the same fan in another room and the problem isn't the remote because I switched them.

How did you switch the remotes? One remote almost never can control a second fan
You will need to replace the receiver. Does the fan have pullchains?
