    How do I validate the debt to be put into a Ch 13 or Ch 7 BR petition?
    Hi,
    I am filing a Ch13 BR petition very soon- but may change to Ch 7. I only have unsecured credit card debt. My lawyer asked me to list "all my debt" which is to go into Schedule F of the BR petition. Any debt I do not list will not be discharged by the BR, so the list better be COMPLETE. I compiled a spreadsheet of debt extracted from my 3 credit reports -- entries from credit cards, entries from collection agencies and entries on JUDGMENTS. I also compiled a list of my original credit cards and balances owed.
    THIS IS WHERE I HAVE THE PROBLEM.
    I tried to "match up" the entries to prevent duplication ---e.g. ideally matching a credit report entry of a credit card company to a credit report entry of a collection agency to the entry in my list of credit cards and tried to match up to (2) JUDGMENTS.

    UNFORTUNATELY, I have 80K matched up but have 40K unmatched.
    The credit report entries usually give account numbers which are supposed to be the first or last digits. However, this is not always the case - you have to make a match by looking at other digits in the account number.
    BUT,---- many of the credit report entries have account numbers which I cannot match up to my own list of credit card account numbers or to a collection entry?!

    HOW DO I MAKE SURE I ONLY PAY FOR THE DEBT I OWE??
    I NEED TO VERIFY/OBTAIN:
    THE FULL ACCOUNT NUMBER, CREDITOR NAME, CREDIT CARD NAME AND ORIGINAL BALANCE
    From COLLECTION AGENCIES and from JUDGMENTS in order to make a proper match up.
    HOW DO I DO THIS?
    The lawyer will not do ---Does the BR court do? - via sending out letters to the addresses I also am supposed to provide --DOESNT SEEM THIS WILL BE VERY ACCURATE - these addresses don't seem quite right?

    Can I call the collection agencies? Lawyers?
    I guess it has to be a letter or any one could ask?
    BUT what should be in the letter basically and
    HOW CAN I GET THE INFORMATION IN a timely mammer - a week rather than 1-2 months??
    I need to get this BR going -- proceedings are going forth TO GARNISH MY WAGES!!
    I WANT TO BRING MY DEBT DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, SO THAT MY CH 13 BR PAYMENT IS AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.
    AND ALSO NOT LEAVE ANY DEBT BEHIND THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DISCHARGE VIA BR AND THEN BE SUED FOR IN COURT AND GIVEN A JUDGMENT.

    I am also trying to see if I can be eligible for Ch 7 BR -- turns out, my lawyer may not have done good job getting all my allowable expenses and appreciating my particular circumstances - may be going to another lawyer -- I have not filed yet.

    Any information would be greatly appreciated
