    Heatpump thermostat
    I have a goodman heatpump with a janitrol 1890 thermostat it has never switched the aux heat on .When the temp gets too cold for heat pump to make heat .I have to turn emergency heat on myself .Book says model1860 thermostat is what should be installed is this my problem if so a new thermostat recommendation would be appreciated.I would rather the emergency heat cycled as it should running emergency when not cheap . Thanks in advance Wake

    Sorry I have no idea about that stat. There are so many ways to hook up a heat pump you wouldn't believe it. It might be worth your wild to have a contractor install a low amient thermostat in the heat pump, you can set this new control at 30 degrees so when it gets below 30 the pump turns off and voltage is transferred to you emergency heat.
