    Portuguese Immigration Law
I was born in Lisbon,Portugal in 1965 at that time my father was foreign diplomte in service of his country in Lisbon. In 2001 I wanted to apply for the Portuguese citizenship on the basis of myof birth. My birth is registered at the 6 Conservatoria Do Registo Civil De Lisboa. I applied for Assentos de Nascimento for Bilhete de Identidade which I got. But when I applied for Bilhete de Identidade Portuguese consulte refused me by saying that I am not elligible accouding to the 2098((1)(d) of 29/7/59 Law. I want to know that am I elligible to have portuguese nationality accourding to Portuguese Law

You are not a Portuguese citizen because in Portugal what determines the citizenship is the blood not the place of birth.

As you father was a foreign diplomat working in Lisbon, even though you were born in Portugal, you have the citizenship of your father, not the Portuguese one.
