80's movie about gryphons
I am trying to recall a movie from the 80's. I can't remember much, but here is what I have in my head...
It might have been made for TV or a mini series
Parts of it were narriated and the narriator had a scruffy voice
The main character was a boy or man
It was not animated
It had these (electronic?) gryphons in it
The gryphons were held captive in a cave or dungeon
The boy was captured too and had to feed the gryphons out of big slop buckets
The gryphons ate bones and blood and guts
The gryphons talked to the boy and he took care of them
The cave or dungeon was surrounded by water or you could only get there by boat
I remember a scene where the young man was holding the food bucket above his head and the grphon's head was about to eat and was talking to the young man and said something very sweet to the boy or asked him a question? The gryphon was nice.
I feel like I am going crazy, I think I probably drempt this flick. Can anyone help with a title?
