    Parole Violation
My boyfriend just got picked up for a parole violation. He has served 14 months of his original 3 years sentence. He has now been sentenced to state prison. How long do you think he will have to serve on this? (Arr 3, Chg 1)

If he's been sentenced to already knows how long he'll have to serve. I don't understand your question.

He could have received the remainder of his 3-year sentence or that sentence plus time for violating or just about anything in between.

    What does he say?

    Hello B:

It depends on LOTS of things, the bulk of which we know nothing about. Depending on what state he's in, he'll get a hearing before the parole board again. I'm sure he'll be told when that is going to happen. Or, he probably has a case manager or unit manager of some type. You could probably call that person and ask them.

In Georgia and other states, it will all be on the states dept of corrections web site. In GA for example, you can pull up the charges he is in prison for, his max release date if he serves all his time, and the first date he can be up for parole.

If he is already sentenced he knows his max time his counselor ( or similar job duty) at the prison will do a work sheet and come up with security levels, parole dates and more.
