    Gibson GQ3RA-24K Wire size?
I've got a Gibson GQ3RA-24K I've been using it with out the heat coils. It's on a double 30amp breaker with 10gage wire. I'm wanting to hook the heat coils up but don't know if that wire will be enough. What size wire should I have?

What size heat strip do you have? You can run a 5 kw on a 30 amp.

I'm not really sure. So with 5k it will run the heat pump and coil on 30?

It's not marked on the tag like it should be.

Also when I do hook the coils up how do I check to see if they work, they don't kick in unless it's to cold for the heat pump right?

If there is more then 1 coil it is larger then a 5kw. Once it is installed turn the t-stat to emergency heat. This will bring the electric elems on if wired correctly.

If it is set up fro aux heat all you should need to do is turn the heat setpoint about 5 degrees warmer then the temp inside and the aux should come on.

    Thanks.

I've got two coils so can I set it up to run just one. With just one the 30 amp break will be able to power the coil and the compressor?

Acorrding to this for a 5 kw you will need a 40 amp breaker. Take a look.

So I've got two coils does that mean it's 8 or 10kw?

What does the 60`C CU , 75`C CU ,and 90`C CU mean?
